_About

Situated within the serene expanse of Darmstadt Forest in Germany, ‘Perpetual Flow’ is a site-specific land-art installation inspired by the timeless concept of unending motion and the ethereal beauty of the water cycle. This work challenges viewers to reconsider the role of water from a different perspective.

Measuring approximately 6 meters by 5 meters by 5 meters, ‘Perpetual Flow’ emerges as a majestic testament to the enduring power of natural materials. Crafted entirely from reclaimed wood sourced from the forest itself, the artwork embodies a sense of symbiosis with its surroundings, blurring the lines between creation and preservation.

Each angle reveals a new facet of the narrative, weaving together themes of continuity, transformation, and interconnectedness. The installation evokes a sense of reverence for the cyclical rhythms of the natural world, the ever-flowing currents of a river, embodying a sense of perpetual motion and a timeless dance between form and fluidity.

Each action within this artwork becomes a profound statement of reality, a unique event nestled within the delicate balance of interactions. It echoes the concept of “Eternal recurrence,” where the infinite cycle of repetition mirrors the oscillation on a cosmic scale.

Here, the universe oscillates between states of stability and change, order and chaos, reflecting the Heraclitean notion of “Panta Rhei” – the constant flux of all things. The world is not static or unchanging, but rather in a constant state of flux. Everything is constantly changing and there is no such thing as an unchanging substance.

Through ‘Perpetual Flow,’ viewers are prompted to reflect on the profound significance of water, not only as a life-giving force but also as a metaphor for the inexorable passage of time and the ever changing world we live in. Engaging with the artwork, viewers are invited to contemplate their own relationship with water and its pivotal role in shaping our collective consciousness and the life that surrounds us.
